THE BEGINNING

Kenton Black was founded by directors Aaron Crabtree and Nick Fox.

2008

Kenton Black establish themselves with key clients and conclude first years trading as a permanent civil engineering specialist recruiter of choice.

2009

As the green shoots of recovery start to appear in the construction industry, Kenton Black Directors develop a business plan to diversify into new market sectors, creating an all encompassing construction recruitment firm dealing with Permanent placements, Executive Search and White and Blue Collar Temps.

2012

Due to growth and successful ventures into new market sectors, Kenton Black moves to new, bigger offices in order to house 40+ dedicated and experienced consultants.

2015

Kenton Black Continues to hire ambitious and talented individuals and launches 'Client' focussed team to specialise in Consulting and Private Practice Markets. Plans to open another office to cater to high demand in the South East are put into action.

2017

Recognised as both a client and candidate friendly recruiter of choice, best to work with, best to work for, with a strong regional presence. Growth into new market sectors and expansion.

    I have been working at Kenton Black since March 2013. I had not long graduated from University with a degree in Sports Management and was working as a football coach. I was looking for a career that could offer real progression, a positive working environment, and the ability to earn really well. For me the team ethic and earning potential with Kenton Black was the motivator for joining the business and I’m proud to say that my hard work has paid off. I interviewed with a lot recruitment companies and I know that the support, planning and leadership here has helped me to develop professionally and personally. I have been promoted three times during my time at Kenton Black from Trainee Consultant to the level of Principal Consultant.

    In the 5 years I have been with the company I have set and accomplished some personal goals some of which include buying my own home, owning a BMW and getting married. I could never have foreseen achieving such goals since starting with the company. I am currently working towards Team Leader with a view to progress into Management. My goals for the future at Kenton Black are to continue my progression further increasing my own development and the business wider aspirations and also to set and accomplish more personal goals!

    For fun, I run the Kenton Black 5-a-side team and have always been a keen and active participant in all the extracurricular challenges that Kenton Black has undertaken. One significant challenge to recall was taking on and successfully completing the 3-peaks challenge.

    I joined Kenton Black in 2015 after working within the television and media industry for the previous 8 years after gaining my degree. Although I enjoyed my work I was keen to pursue a career where hard work could drastically improve my earning potential and career earnings. The recruitment industry really stood out, having already known people working within the industry. The fast-paced sales environment where building relationships formed an important part of the process was of great appeal and I was keen to find a growing business that offered career progression and an enjoyable working environment.

    Having been offered three positions I chose Kenton Black for just those reasons, having been extremely impressed during the interview process by both the owners, Nick and Aaron, and the general atmosphere and buzz surrounding the offices.

    I was given a start-up desk that the business had singled out as a growth sector within the construction industry that they wanted develop working with house builders. I saw it as an exciting challenge to create a successful desk within one of the fastest growing sectors within the UK construction industry. Since then I have been promoted three times, from Trainee to Team Leader and I’m now on a promotion path in to Senior Management within the business.

    During this time the residential desk has now grown into a core business stream including three members of staff who work across both freelance and permanent and are now the most successful division within Kenton Black. It’s really exciting times to be so involved with Kenton Black as the business is growing year on year, diversifying and expanding but still managing to maintain the same friendly feel that first attracted me to the business when I started.

    I started my career with a leading construction recruitment organisation in 2001 specialising in the residential sector and since then have gained over 15 years of construction recruitment experience which spans across the UK, Middle East and Asia, working on some of the world’s largest construction projects.


    I joined Kenton Black in February 2017 as a Principle Consultant to develop the residential sector. Within the first six months of joining Kenton Black I won the prestigious Kenton Black Consultants Award which made me proud that all of the hard work had paid off, not only being recognised by my peers and Directors but also reaping the financial rewards.


    Kenton Black is a company that rewards success coupled with the opportunity for genuine career progression, it very much offers a positive working and team environment with numerous monthly social events, annual and summer conferences and trips to Las Vegas forming part of a work ethic being work hard play hard.


    My goals for the future with Kenton Black are to progress into a Senior Managerial role helping to assist with further development of the residential sector and the wider business.
