SENIOR ESTIMATOR – House building – £70k DOE plus bonus and package

We have an exciting opportunity with one of the UK’s most renowned housebuilders to work in a front-end capacity with their commercial team. The role is crucial for all future developments, working closely with their in-house technical team to value engineer all sites to maximise profitability of all schemes within the region.

My client has a renowned reputation for not only building new homes of the highest quality and specification, but also planning and producing new property development schemes which enhance and even change the face of their surrounding environments.


• Liaising with Technical, Construction and Commercial departments.
• Identify value engineering improvements.
• Ensuring that all technical information ties together prior to tendering.
• Overseeing the procurement process of Groundwork and Infrastructure.
• Analysing tender returns and negotiating best price whilst achieving the programme.
• Assisting the build teams to ensure that they comply with their obligations and in accordance with the agreed accepted tender.
• Managing payments to subcontractors to ensure compliance.
• Liaising with regional Health and Safety Manager prior to procurement to ensure that the correct packages are awarded (i.e. who is the Principal Contractor and who is undertaking what work).
• Attending meetings that may be necessary in the performance of your duties.
• Complying with and uphold company policies and procedures.
• Undertaking any additional tasks as may reasonably be required from time to time.

Candidate Criteria:

• Experience working as an Estimator or Procurement Surveyor.
• Project relevant experience (new build housing).
• Possess formal qualifications in construction or quantity surveying (HNC or equivalent)
• Full driving licence.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Good negotiating skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Knowledge of contract law relating to construction issues.
• Knowledge of construction techniques and materials.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety related issues.
• Computer literate in the use of valuation systems and Microsoft Office.
