Job Description

Kenton Black Finance are delighted to represent this successful Cumbrian professional business offering a flexible working opportunity at a senior level to work from either the Kendal or Keswick office. This friendly firm are now seeking to appoint a capable, confident Payroll Manager. This position requires previous payroll managerial/supervisory experience overseeing a small team within a similar role together with full end to end payroll processing experience.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: -

  • Oversee, administer within a small payroll team full end to end Payroll processing for weekly/monthly & four weekly payrolls for a varied client portfolio, using SAGE 50, and Xero
  • Collate and process payroll data including timesheets and expense claims
  • Submit monthly and annual pension information/uploads to the providers
  • Undertaking payroll invoices to be sent out to clients
  • Submit of annual HMRC returns
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns (VAT experience preferred) but not essential
  • Ensuring BACS payments are processed in an effective and timely manner
  • Working knowledge of Auto enrolment pension processing and RTI filing end of year processing
  • Prepare and calculate SSP/SMP/SSP CSA processing together with court orders.
  • Dealing with and ensuring smooth processing of new starters/leavers, P45/P46's (no P11D's)
  • Liaison with and experience of dealing with HMRC/DWP
  • Liaison with clients, employees regarding payroll/tax queries
  • Software knowledge of ideally SAGE 50 & Xero
Person Specification

  • Previous team management/supervisor/team leader payroll experience within a similar role with solid payroll full end to end payroll processing experience processing monthly/weekly/4 weekly payrolls
  • Strong communication skills both internal and external
  • Proactive and innovative approach to resolving queries
  • Confident and friendly communication/telephone manner
  • In addition knowledge of VAT returns/bookkeeping would be a distinct advantage
