General Manager - Recycling and Production Birmingham

My client is a leader within multi-discipline surfacing, and due to new sector involvement, they are looking to hire a Manager to steer the business in the right direction. This role will have overall responsibility of daily operations including financial responsibility, supervision, and development of staff, production efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of operations through management of the company’s production operations and to meet shared company objectives.

Role responsibilities:

Planning, organising, directing, and running optimum day-to-day operations to exceed customers expectations

Implement and review operational procedures, risk assessments and procedures when necessary

Responsibility for production output, product quality and on-time delivery

Work in conjunction with the maintenance department to determine optimal times for production equipment repairs; troubleshoot and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems

Sourcing and identifying routes to market for external production, work alongside Marketing to build industry awareness of our products

Working alongside Contracts Direction identifying potential opportunities for utilising products and batching plants

Maintain good customer relations with customers on an ongoing basis

Identify opportunities, develop strategies, and execute the plan for operational improvement

Work closely with Sales and Quality Control to ensure that products meet customer’s needs and expectations

To manage and motivate our operational teams to achieve excellence and continual improvement both in terms of quality and efficiency.


About you:

Previous work in an asphalt production facility, preferably in a supervisory capacity

Good understanding of regulatory requirements for operating plants

Strong organisational and planning skills to manage organisational change

Excellent IT skills, proficient in Microsoft office to include Microsoft Excel

Ability to develop, analyse and review numerical data to make decisions

Understanding of budgets and financial responsibility

Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
