Estimator require for a groundworks and civil engineering contractor, who specialise in commercial groundworks schemes, based in Solihull.

They work across with main contractors working on industrial sheds, schools, universities and supermarkets, to deliver projects varying in size, between £500K to £5M. Due to continuous growth they are looking to expand the estimating team.

The estimator oversees pricing work including take off, quantification, cost rate build: up and value engineering. They are also responsible for assessing contract terms and reducing financial risks for construction projects. They will create tender/bid submissions for works at regular intervals and liaise with clients for feedback.

An estimator can expect to work regular hours with occasional travel to sites to assess conditions, site access and logistics. These jobs range from smaller commercial groundworks schemes to large scale infrastructure jobs such as deep drainage and multi utility packages.

Determining clients’ needs and develop our bid based on those needs.
To remain in budget, considering the costs of materials, time, and people.
Updating documentation that tracks the current bids/work priced/work won.
Identifying potential risks at pre: construction stage and establishing plans to reduce risks.
Understanding the requirements of the proposed contract terms and follow the commercial managers advice on other contractual items.

Degree qualified
Previous experience in groundworks and commercial groundworks schemes.
