We require a Clerk of Works / Highways Inspector for a long term role in Cambridgeshire. The Clerk of Works will be responsible for overseeing earthworks, highways construction & surfacing, drainage works and associated structures. Previous structures experience is essential.
The Clerk of Works will oversee delivery of construction works in accordance with client requirements. This involves monitoring the work of contractors and subcontractors and issuing instructions on behalf of the supervising engineer, ensuring that work is carried out to the required standards, and making sure that plans and specifications are being followed correctly.
Clerk of Works - Duties / Accountabilities
Coordination with the contractor’s supervisory personnel regarding schedule, sequence and method of work. Coordination with the contractor’s supervisory staff on quality and progress. Identifying work to be done and, subject to the prior approval of the engineer, issuing site directions to the contractor. Undertake a trouble-shooting role, in consultation with the engineer, regarding the investigation of defects and the organisation and direction of remedial works. Continuous field inspections of the work in progress. Compiling inspection reports. Checking setting out dimensions. Monitoring construction progress and quality of work. Measuring and compiling records of proposed and completed works. Supervising on site tests and keeping records. Compiling on-site records of activities, conditions & resources. Compile project diaries. Preparing schedule of outstanding work/schedules of defects. Monitor day works. Attend and contribute to design team and site meetings. Site safety monitoring. Carry out such other duties related to construction operations as may be required from time to time. Please note that the successful Clerk of Works will have previous extensive structures work experience.
