Civils Quantity Surveyor (Highways)
£40,000 p/a plus package including; Company car/allowance, Healthcare, Pension, generous holiday allowance
Ashford, Kent

My Client is a Market-leader within the Civil Engineering sector specialising in prestigious Highways, Rail and Water projects nationwide. With a growing order book of multi-million pound schemes they are actively recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their Highways Commercial Division in Kent.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the commercial resources of the £100m Highways scheme and maximise planned gross margin through the placement and control of contracts and subcontracts.
Provide commercial expertise to contracts including the production and submission of valuations, claims, budget monitoring, and contract/workstream performance data.
Assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement Companies policies for risk management.
Support the authorisation and submission of project variations.
Authorise the placement of contracts, subcontracts, material and plant orders.
Maximise cash flow through the control, measurement (including quality) and valuation of work, and the invoicing of customers and payment of suppliers.
Value work executed by Sub-contractors and certify interim and final payments.
Implement all Company policies including those for SHE and risk management.
Promote Company values towards its customers in order to meet or exceed their expectations.

Successful candidates will possess:

Degree or equivalent in Commercial Management or Quantity Surveying.
+5 years experience working for a Main/Principal Contractor.
Exposure to large infrastructure projects +£50m (ideally Highways).
IT proficient with MS Office (Excel and Word).
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Adept a time management and prioritising work loads.
